I’ve been working on a series of images that are about the male gaze for the male form, and use vintage porn from the ’80’s as inspiration and source material. Porn of that era became a safe escape from a world being ravaged by HIV/AIDS. As I explore these images, they allow me to process my own history during those years. 

In this work, my goal is to capture and pay homage to the old crude newsprint-type paper these magazines were printed on, which is so different than the on-line digital porn of today. The use of color speaks to the user touching the work as well as hiding the work.
